Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Andrea Adamo claimed sixth overall at round 13 of the 2026 MXGP World Championship at Loket, Czech Republic, salvaging crucial points after a challenging weekend at the hard-packed, technical circuit.
The Italian rookie showed promising speed throughout the weekend, qualifying fourth on Saturday to equal his second-best Saturday classification of the year. However, race day proved more difficult for the Red Bull KTM squad.
Adamo launched to a strong start in the opening moto, running inside the top three in the early stages and riding with confidence. He finished just under a second behind third place, collecting valuable championship points with a fourth-place finish.
The second moto proved more dramatic. Adamo became entangled in traffic before the first uphill section, forcing him to charge through from outside the top twenty. The Italian fought back to seventh position with two laps remaining but slipped off, eventually crossing the line tenth. His 4-10 scores gave him 29 points and sixth overall on the day.
“I was really going for the podium this weekend,” Adamo said. “I knew I had the speed, the good starts and the rhythm. Everything was clicking but, unfortunately, I had a crash in the second corner of the second moto and I was completely last. Again, I learned something today; a stupid mistake in the second corner.”
The result moves Adamo up to sixth in the championship standings with 411 points, 155 behind leader Jeffrey Herlings, who extended his points lead with a 1-1 performance aboard his Honda.
Team-mate Lucas Coenen was forced to withdraw from the Grand Prix on Sunday morning after struggling with a compressed sciatic nerve in his left hip sustained in a crash the previous weekend at Foxhill. The Belgian, who sits second in the championship with 566 points, will assess his condition ahead of his home Grand Prix at Lommel this weekend.
In MX2, Simon Laengenfelder claimed his third consecutive qualification heat victory on Saturday but struggled on race day. After riding to fifth in the opening moto, the German was challenging for second in race two when contact with Guillem Farres sent him crashing. He landed on his right forearm, losing feeling in the limb and forcing him to retire. He finished 13th overall.
Sacha Coenen showed resilience just ten days post-surgery for a broken right collarbone, scoring seventh overall with 7-7 finishes. The Belgian remains second in the MX2 championship, 33 points behind leader Farres.
The MXGP championship now heads to the deep sand of Lommel, Belgium, for round 14 on 1-2 August.
