Liam Everts extended his impressive late-season form with a third-place finish at the MXGP of China, marking his fourth consecutive Grand Prix podium for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing. The Belgian rider secured consistent 3-3 finishes at the penultimate round of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship in Shanghai.
The Shanghai International Off-Road Circuit in Fengxian District hosted the second stop of the championship’s final flyaway run, with the 1,680-metre hard-pack circuit providing challenging conditions for the MX2 field.
After qualifying fifth on Saturday, Everts demonstrated stronger pace on Sunday, topping the morning warm-up session before carrying that speed into the opening moto. The race developed into a tight battle amongst the leading trio, with Everts crossing the line third, just 0.407 seconds behind Simon Längenfelder in second and only 1.982 seconds from race winner Camden McLellan.
The second moto saw Everts once again fighting at the front from the opening lap. Running third initially, the Belgian moved past Längenfelder for second on lap seven whilst simultaneously setting the fastest lap of the race. He closed to within 2.277 seconds of leader Guillem Farres and looked comfortable in the runner-up position.

A small mistake in a left-hander on lap 15 allowed McLellan through, dropping Everts back to third. The Husqvarna rider regrouped quickly and remained close to the Triumph rider through the closing laps, eventually finishing just 0.941 seconds behind McLellan and 1.979 seconds from Farres.
The 3-3 scorecard earned Everts 40 points and third overall, continuing a podium streak that began with second place in Sweden and continued through the Netherlands and Türkiye rounds. With one round remaining, he sits fifth in the MX2 World Championship on 742 points, just 26 behind Längenfelder in fourth.
“It was a good weekend overall. I felt strong on Sunday and the pace was definitely there in both motos,” said Everts. “Race one was really close at the front, and in the second moto I managed to move into second and felt like I was riding well. I made a small mistake towards the end which cost me the position, but 3-3 for third overall and a fourth podium in a row is still really positive. I’m happy with the consistency we’re showing at the moment and with the way I’m riding.”

The 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship concludes on 20 September with the MXGP of Australia in Darwin, where Everts will aim to maintain his podium momentum heading into the off-season.
