Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Sacha Coenen delivered a masterclass performance at round six of the 2026 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Southwick, sweeping both 250MX motos for his first overall victory on American soil. The Belgian rider extended his dominance despite a heavy crash in the final moto, whilst Jorge Prado secured fourth overall in the 450MX class.
The current MX2 World Championship leader made it three moto victories from four starts in his American campaign, qualifying fastest aboard the KTM 250 SX-F Factory Edition before claiming a commanding opening moto win by over 33 seconds. The 19-year-old backed up his performance with another moto victory despite suffering a late-race crash that has raised concerns about a potential shoulder injury.
Coenen is scheduled to undergo further medical evaluations to determine the extent of any damage sustained in the incident. Despite the crash, he remounted to take the chequered flag and complete a perfect 1-1 scorecard at the demanding Massachusetts sand circuit.
Julien Beaumer maintained his strong early-season form with fifth overall at The Wick. The 20-year-old Frenchman qualified seventh before finishing fourth in the opening moto. A difficult start in moto two saw him buried outside the top 20, but a relentless charge through the pack delivered fifth by the chequered flag. The result sees Beaumer tied for third in the 250MX championship standings heading to Millville.
“I’m really strong and we’ve known that for [some time now],” said Beaumer. “Obviously, last weekend wasn’t great with two motos [coming from] 40th, but my riding was good today – I started that second moto around 30th, and just had to work through the pack. The bike is amazing, so we’ll keep plugging away and come back in Millville.”
In the premier class, four-time world champion Prado qualified second aboard the KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition before fighting to fourth overall. The Spaniard charged from outside the top 10 to fourth in moto one, then secured third in the final moto to claim fourth on the podium. He sits fourth in the championship after six rounds.
“The first moto start held me up big time – as soon as I got to fourth place, the guys up front were already over 20 seconds away,” explained Prado. “But we started together in race two, I was just fourth right there the whole time, and I couldn’t do more than that. I tried my best and we pushed very hard in the last laps.”
Current MXGP points leader Lucas Coenen topped 450MX qualifying with a blistering 1:53.903 lap time, but his day ended prematurely following a first-turn crash in moto one. Despite an impressive recovery ride from near-last to fourth, a subsequent fall resulted in a DNF. The team elected to sit out moto two with the MXGP championship leader’s world title campaign in mind.
