Sacha Coenen Unstoppable with Perfect 1-1 at MXGP of Trentino

Sacha Coenen delivered a flawless performance at the MXGP of Trentino, dominating the MX2 class with a perfect 1-1 scorecard to claim his first overall victory of the 2026 season.

At the iconic Pietramurata circuit, Coenen was simply untouchable across the weekend, setting the benchmark from the very first gate drop. The Belgian had already shown his intent on Saturday, controlling the qualification race to maintain his perfect record in MX2 qualifying so far this season.

When it came to Sunday’s motos, Coenen raised the level again.

In race one, he grabbed the holeshot and never looked back, leading every lap across tricky, changing conditions to take a commanding win. Race two followed a similar script, with Coenen once again out front early and building a comfortable gap to the chasing pack.

Despite a late mistake, nothing could derail his charge, as he secured a second victory of the day to complete a dominant clean sweep.

The result not only marks his first overall win of the season but also closes the gap in the championship standings, underlining his growing status as a genuine title contender in 2026.

Coenen said:

“I’m really happy to win three motos this weekend and for the first time. I had the holeshot in the first moto, made a lead and was able to cruise until the end. Really good. In the second one I was feeling better and had an even better flow. I led every lap until three to go when I made a big mistake and crashed: I hate that corner! Anyway, I was able to pick up and manage the race to win again.”

With momentum firmly on his side, Coenen now heads into the break as one of the form riders in MX2, and a serious threat as the championship fight continues.
