Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has announced a multi-year contract extension with Jorge Prado, securing the Spanish rider’s services through the 2027 SuperMotocross World Championship season. The deal keeps the two-time MXGP champion in the United States competing across AMA Supercross, AMA Pro Motocross, and the SMX Playoffs.
The 25-year-old has impressed in his return to the Austrian manufacturer this season, collecting two 450SX podiums during the Supercross campaign and adding two more podium finishes across the opening eight rounds of the Pro Motocross Championship. Prado currently sits third in the combined 450SMX standings as the outdoor series progresses.
Prado’s partnership with KTM began over a decade ago, with his full-time Red Bull KTM Factory Racing debut coming in the FIM Motocross World Championship in 2017. The Spaniard quickly established himself as a dominant force, capturing back-to-back MX2 world titles in 2018 and 2019 before stepping up to the premier class. He added consecutive MXGP crowns in 2023 and 2024, cementing his status as one of the sport’s elite talents.
The contract extension sees Prado continue developing his skills in American racing aboard the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION. The team has set its sights on building towards title contention across the SuperMotocross categories in the coming seasons.
“I’m really happy to have re-signed with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, because we’ve had great past seasons winning in MXGP, and this past year was great in Supercross – we achieved some podiums, had a couple of heat race wins, and now we’ve been very strong outdoors,” Prado said. “I’m just happy to be working with this great group of people for the future, so I am super-excited and hopeful that we can achieve our goals.”
Ian Harrison, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager, praised Prado’s rapid adaptation to the American racing scene. “We’re excited to have Jorge continue with KTM. Our entire team is looking forward to seeing him continue to develop his Supercross and motocross skills here in the United States. We were all impressed by how quickly he adapted to Supercross in 2025. His confidence and speed, particularly through the whoops, stood out as one of his greatest strengths in one of the most demanding sections of the track.”
Harrison added that the team believes Prado’s best years remain ahead of him, emphasising the rider’s willingness to learn and commitment to improvement as he transitions to the unique challenges of American racing.
