Liam Everts returned to the MX2 podium with a commanding performance at the MXGP of Sweden, securing second overall for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing at round 15 of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship. The Belgian rider delivered consistent 2-2 moto finishes at Uddevalla’s Glimminge Motorstadion, while teammate Kay de Wolf showed continued progress in his rookie MXGP campaign.
Set amongst the rocky hillsides of Uddevalla, the 1,645-metre circuit welcomed a record 28,500 fans for a spectacular weekend of racing as the championship entered its final quarter. Everts demonstrated strong pace from Saturday’s qualifying race, where he claimed second, before carrying that momentum into Sunday’s motos.
In race one, the Belgian settled into second position immediately behind leader Sacha Coenen and remained firmly in contention throughout the moto. As the gap fluctuated, Everts repeatedly closed back onto his rival and continued to apply pressure, eventually crossing the line just 1.2 seconds behind.
Race two followed a remarkably similar pattern. Everts quickly moved into second and again chased Coenen at the head of the field. Despite traffic adding to the challenge, he stayed within striking distance throughout the 18-lap race and pushed all the way to the flag, finishing just 2.4 seconds adrift.
His 2-2 scorecard secured 44 Grand Prix points and second overall, completing an impressive 2-2-2 weekend across qualifying and both motos. “It was a little frustrating because I felt like I had really good pace all weekend,” Everts said. “I just couldn’t find a way around. He was riding really good and wasn’t making any mistakes, so hats off to him. I’m really happy with my riding and with the progress we made this weekend.”
In MXGP, Kay de Wolf continued to build through his rookie season. Following an incident during Saturday’s qualifying race, the Dutchman started seventh in race one before slipping to 12th during the early stages. He regrouped well and fought his way back to 10th at the finish.
De Wolf took another step forward in race two, finding a stronger rhythm and charging to sixth at the chequered flag. His 10-6 results for eighth overall marked clear progress across the weekend. “I actually feel like I learned a lot this weekend,” de Wolf commented. “Fitness-wise, I felt a lot better as well, which is another big positive.”
Adding another highlight to the weekend, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing Team Manager Rasmus Jorgensen swapped the pit box for the start gate to represent the team in Uddevalla’s special holeshot challenge. Lining up against a host of motocross legends including Joel Smets, Jorgen Nilsson, Anders Eriksson and Ben Townley, Jorgensen came out on top to claim a memorable victory for the team.
Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing now heads directly to the sand of Arnhem for the MXGP of the Netherlands on 23 August, where de Wolf will line up for his home Grand Prix as the championship enters its final four rounds.
