The 2026 Pro Motocross Championship will conclude this Saturday with an unprecedented showdown as Australian brothers Hunter and Jett Lawrence battle for the 450SMX Class title in a winner-take-all finale at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The siblings are separated by just one point heading into the final round, marking the first time in the sport’s 55-year history that two brothers have competed at such an elite level for a premier class championship.
Honda HRC Progressive’s Hunter Lawrence holds a slim one-point advantage over his younger brother Jett after 10 rounds of intense competition. Hunter has captured 12 moto wins compared to Jett’s eight, whilst also claiming six overall victories to Jett’s four. However, Jett boasts a superior finishing average of 2.3 compared to Hunter’s 3.6, setting the stage for a dramatic conclusion to one of the most memorable seasons in series history.
“It’s hard to put into words how significant and historic this summer’s Pro Motocross Championship has been,” said Davey Coombs, President of MX Sports Pro Racing. “We’ve now had the sport’s two most prestigious series come down to the wire and you really can’t ask for anything more.”
In the 250SMX Class, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cole Davies carries a 14-point lead over Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Levi Kitchen. The New Zealander has demonstrated championship poise throughout the summer, growing stronger with each round. Kitchen, known for his remarkable resilience, holds the class’s best start-to-finish ratio at +8.3 despite averaging starts outside the top 10, but lost control of the championship at Budds Creek.
The event will also crown the Women’s Motocross Championship winner, with Altus Motorsports bLUcRU Yamaha’s Lachlan Turner holding a 21-point lead over Quad Lock Honda’s Charli Cannon. Additionally, the Ironman Scouting Moto Combine will showcase 25 of amateur motocross’s top prospects.
The U.S. Army Ironman National Finals Presented by Tucker Freight Lines represents the military branch’s maiden support as title partner of Pro Motocross, with prominent activation in the sponsor village and an Army guitarist performing the national anthem.
Legendary rider Gary Jones, the first-ever 250cc champion in Pro Motocross who captured three consecutive titles from 1972-1974, has been named Grand Marshal and will present the championship trophy bearing his name to either Davies or Kitchen.
The U.S. Army Ironman National begins Saturday, 29 August, with opening ceremonies at 12:15 p.m. ET before the gate drops on motos at 1 p.m. ET. Comprehensive live streaming coverage will air exclusively on Peacock, beginning with Race Day Live at 10 a.m. ET.
