The 2026 Women’s Motocross Championship will reach its dramatic conclusion this weekend at Ironman Raceway in Indiana, with Lachlan Turner and Charli Cannon set to battle for the title. Turner, the reigning back-to-back champion riding for Altus Motorsports bLUcRU Yamaha, holds a 21-point advantage over Quad Lock Honda’s Charli Cannon heading into the final two motos.
The Australian rivals have dominated the season, capturing all but one moto and every overall victory between them. Turner’s eight moto wins and four overall victories have set the pace, whilst Cannon has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign that included her first moto win and maiden overall victory on American soil. With nine moto podiums and four runner-up finishes, Cannon has proven herself a worthy challenger to Turner’s dominance.
Turner has the opportunity to clinch the championship early in Friday’s opening moto. If she gains four points over Cannon, pushing her advantage to 25 points, the title will be secured as she holds the tiebreaker. For Cannon, keeping Turner within striking distance on Friday will extend the battle into Saturday’s final moto.
Adding intrigue to the finale is the debut of Spanish star Daniela Guillen, who currently leads the FIM MXW championship in MXGP with one round remaining. Guillen, a perennial championship contender overseas with two victories and two runner-up finishes this season, will join Wildcat Race Team aboard a GASGAS machine for her American debut. Her presence adds another compelling layer to the championship outcome.
Behind the title fight, a close battle is unfolding for third in the championship. Partzilla Blaster Power PRMX Kawasaki’s Taylah McCutcheon holds the position but leads by just three points over SLR Honda’s Mikayla Nielsen and Dusty Rocks Yamaha’s Jordan Jarvis, who sit tied for fourth. Nielsen’s podium finish at Budds Creek has positioned her well for the final push, whilst both McCutcheon and Jarvis will be looking to rebound from their lowest point scores of the season.
The WMX action begins Friday, 28th August, with qualifying and the first 12 Minutes + 1 Lap moto, which will air exclusively via SMX Friday Live Presented by Honda on the SuperMotocross YouTube channel. Coverage begins at 1 p.m. ET. Saturday’s final moto will be broadcast live on Peacock and SMX Video Pass at 1 p.m. ET, with the championship ceremony to follow.
