Lachlan Turner and Charli Cannon will contest the 2026 Women’s Motocross Championship title this weekend at Ironman Raceway in Indiana, with the reigning two-time champion holding a 21-point advantage heading into the season finale. The championship fight will be further complicated by the WMX debut of FIM MXW points leader Daniela Guillen, who arrives from Europe to compete alongside the domestic title contenders.
Altus Motorsports bLUcRU Yamaha’s Turner has dominated the season with eight moto wins and four overall victories, establishing herself as the rider to beat throughout the summer. Her Australian rival Cannon, riding for Quad Lock Honda, has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign that includes her first moto win and maiden overall victory on American soil, alongside nine moto podiums and four runner-up finishes.
Turner can clinch the championship early if she gains four points over Cannon in Friday’s opening moto, which would push her advantage to the 25-point threshold needed to secure the title. The Yamaha rider also holds the tiebreaker over Cannon. If Cannon finishes ahead of Turner on Friday, she can keep the title fight alive by following the championship leader home, extending the battle into Saturday’s final moto.
Spanish rider Guillen adds significant intrigue to the Ironman finale. Currently leading the MXGP MXW standings with one round remaining, Guillen has secured two victories and two runner-up finishes through four rounds. She will compete aboard a GASGAS machine with the Wildcat Race Team, helmed by Venezuelan racer Lorenzo Locurcio, and has the potential to influence the championship outcome directly.
The battle for third in the championship remains equally competitive. Partzilla Blaster Power PRMX Kawasaki’s Taylah McCutcheon currently holds the position but leads by just three points over SLR Honda’s Mikayla Nielsen and Dusty Rocks Yamaha’s Jordan Jarvis, who sit tied for fourth. Nielsen returned to the overall podium at Budds Creek whilst both McCutcheon and Jarvis recorded their lowest point scores of the season, setting up a three-rider fight for the final podium position.
The WMX will kick off the weekend’s action on Friday, 28th August, with its first moto airing exclusively via SMX Friday Live Presented by Honda on the SuperMotocross YouTube channel at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET. Saturday’s final moto will be broadcast live on Peacock and SMX Video Pass, with coverage beginning at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET, and will feature the official championship ceremony.
